Welcome to Nordland national park centre

Nordland National Park Centre offers you knowledge and thrills. It provides you with information about all the national parks in Nordland County, Børgefjell, Saltfjellet-Svartisen, Junkerdal, Rago and Møysalen. The national parks are protected to preserve the landscape as intact as possible for our own pleasure, for future generations, and for the sake of the natural history.

The centre is certified by the Directorate for Nature Management and was inaugurated on 2 July 2005

The shape of the centre is circular and you walk through the, or make use of varied and enthralling exhibitions. You can sit in the courtyard and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains with a cup coffe brewed on the open fire and taste the combination with a piece of dried reindeer meat from the local sami people! Or you may also want to take use of the well-planned outdoor facilities, on the doorstep of the Junkerdal National Park and the Junkerdalsura Nature Reserve, a scree renowned for its outstanding range of rare and beautiful plants.

Nordland National Park Centre is situated beside the E6 trunk road at Storjord in the valley of Saltdal. It is 125 km from Bodø and 38 km from Rognan, the local administration centre.

In tight cooperation with guide agencies, hotels and other companies we can also offer a broad range nature experiences and products connected to the centre and the surrounding national parks.
