Solvågtind

Solvågtind is one of the most distinctive mountain peaks in Northern Norway. On clear days, the 1,559-metre summit offers spectacular views in all directions.

The hike starts from Nordland National Park Centre or from the parking area on the north side of the Junkerdal River. Follow the old forest road east across Junkerdalsura and up into the birch forest.

Further up, the road becomes a clear trail through lush vegetation. You will pass Storjordfjellkoia, an open cabin maintained by Statskog, before the trail continues through the birch forest.

Above the tree line, a faint sheep track leads up towards Trektvatnet. From here, there is no clear path, but the route continues in a north-easterly direction, following the western side of the lakes below the summit.

As you approach the top, it is recommended to keep to the ridge north of Øvre Trektvatnet and pass on the eastern side of the lake. Continue along the ridge all the way to the summit cairn.

It is recommended to bring a map and compass, as well as sufficient food, water and warm clothing. On the descent, it is best to follow the marked trail to avoid difficult terrain.
